Novonorm 2 mg Tablet is used to control high blood glucose levels in patients with type II diabetes. Patients are advised to follow a strict diet and exercise regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect.

How to use Novonorm Tablet

Novonorm 2 mg useis used alone or with other medications to control high blood sugar along with a proper diet and exercise program. It is used in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. It works by stimulating the body to produce more insulin. Insulin is a natural substance that allows the body to properly use sugar from the diet.

How Novonorm Tablet works

Novonorm 2mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas which prevents blood glucose from rising very high after meals.

How to take NOVONORM 2mg Tablet?

The dosage and the drug form depend on the age, weight and medical condition of an individual. Take Novonorm 2 mg take Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.

Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Take the drug at least 30 minutes before a meal.

Novonorm 2 mg dosage Tablet, please take it immediately once you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 patients)

Hypoglycaemia (see If you get a hypo). The risk of getting a hypo may increase if you take other medicines

Stomach pain


Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1000 patients)

Acute coronary syndrome (but it may not be due to the drug).

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 patients)

Allergy (such as swelling, difficulty in breathing, rapid heart beat, feeling dizzy, sweating which could be signs of anaphylactic reaction). Contact a doctor immediately



Visual disturbances

Severe liver problems, abnormal liver function, increased liver enzymes in your blood.

When is Novonorm (2mg) not to be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma, type 1 diabetes, co-administration with gemfibrozil, and known hypersensitivity.

Warnings and Precautions for Novonorm (2mg)

  • Caution should be exercised in patients with history of adrenal, pituitary, liver, or kidney problems, high blood acid levels, high fever, poor nutrition, alcoholism, severe infection, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Monitor fasting blood sugar and hemoglobin A1c level regularly while taking this medication.

What precautions should I take when taking Repaglinide :
